Default CycloDS Evolution v1.56 BETA 4

CycloDS Evolution v1.56 BETA 4 firmware has been released for testing. Changes include:
  • Many internal changes
  • Tweaked automatic game protection patcher, should fix delays with some games
  • Game compatibility fix (4262, 4323)
We'd like to apologise for the lack of activity from Team Cyclops recently. We've had our full attention focused on some interesting new developments - but that's all we can say for now This BETA release has minor changes in terms of functionality/compatibility but a lot has changed under the hood so we're eager to hear back from those who will test this to ensure that its on par with previous releases.

Regarding recent Ubisoft releases - these games incorporate a whole new form of protection and we are currently working on a generic fix. In the meantime, please use the pre-patched releases which are available (assuming of course that you own an original copy of the corresponding game!).

now when they go poof till mid january, we'll all know they got distracted by something shiny. <joke
also in their post, they showed that they do at least read some of our(as a whole) ramblings.
"interesting new developments"
hmm... developments in terms of their progress on their work. or something interesting going on in life...
i would've used the term "breakthroughs" for the first, and developments for the latter.

Thanks TC, im intrigued now...

After updating to this beta, I noticed that I cannot set the brightness before loading a game anymore. I get, "LCD Brightness: Unavailable" when I go directly to the menu area (3rd icon) from the CycloDS's initial boot up. I inspected the xml file and compared it to the previous beta and didn't see anything that would suggest any kind of syntax error or anything. So it seems that somehow the boot up sequence is not referencing the brightness setting in the xml file, though it does create the setting in the xml.

Once in a game though, I can then use the enhanced menu to change brightness as normal. This is all well-and-fine, but some select games are known not to work with the enhanced menu, so not being able to change the brightness before booting a game can be problematic. I suppose I can just use the DS's internal menu settings to change brightness manually, but it seems like sort of a downgrade to not have the option like we always have right through the Cyclo's menus.

To sum up, it seems the CycloDS is ignoring the brightness setting in its xml file upon boot with 1.56b4, but works after loading a game and using the enhanced menu.

Can anyone else confirm this issue?
