CycloDS Evolution v1.3 BETA 2

EDIT: Download link removed due to several people facing MicroSD corruption problems. We think we've fixed this issue and a new build should follow soon.

The firmware has undergone substantial internal changes since the first BETA release which should greatly improve compatibility and performance. We've tested this a lot ourselves, but would appreciate the help of some of our members to ensure all the bugs have been squashed We hope to release v1.3 final in a few days, pending the success of the BETA testing. Changes since the v1.3 BETA 1 include:

• Greatly improved compatibility for both the in-game menu and RTS feature
• Resolved sound problems with some games on RTS load
• Optimised save and load performance for RTS - speed is more than double
• The RTS file format has changed, which unfortunately means old saves are not compatible with this release
• Fixed download play with 'Need For Speed: Pro Street"
• Miscellaneous game compatibility fixes
• NDS file extensions are no longer displayed in the GUI
• Added the ability to exit the in-game menu by pressing the B button
• Revised controls for the settings menu: A/RIGHT cycle item forwards, Y/LEFT cycle item backwards
• SlowMotion is now shown as a percentage rather than an arbitrary number
• Fixed homebrew that use DLDI on ARM7 (DSVideo)

Once again, we would like to remind web-masters to please refrain from posting news about this build on your websites. This final v1.3 release should follow in a few days, and we would certainly appreciate news of the final release being posted instead

By the way for U testers here is the latest Lilou Combox 1.3 ( aka earlier CFTP ) now with DS to DS transfer

... More functionalities are now included : a wifi free hot spot scanner, a file explorer, a line editor, a RSS reader….

Also a new trimmer with full shell integration + right click (!) and Automatic renaming (Game Title, Language)


Yeah I love betas

Warning : Current version miss the the infamous Hero (J) Egg Test. Tested with the latest 1.02a the rom is trimmed to 512 bytes.

It does?! If that's true, I don't think I'll be updating just yet. Could just backup everything on the microSD first, though...

Other than that, this FW update seems to be a great one! So many improvements, I'm really looking forward to trying it out.

Alright, I'm running through it now ... Not so much bugs, but more suggestions based on TESTING the features

- RTS system .. First, kudos on the speed improvements ... DAMN! Recommend if you try to start a game with SELECT held down that you turn on RTS functionality automatically and create the RTS file. I didn't realize I had it shut off, and was wondering what the hell button I was supposed to be using. At LEAST show a notice during loading (RTS Not Enabled) or something. Also, if there is an RTS file for a ROM, prompt the user at launch if they want to start the game with the RTS file loaded (not sure that's possible).

- Is it possible to add left and right on the D-Pad to cycle page by page on the rom selection screen? My right shoulder button is weak as it is, and I absolutely HATE using it any more than necessary. The Dpad l/r doesn't have any other function as it is now ....

- Issue that's been around awhile -
can't explain why ... It involves Wordup, the kickass homebrew game, the Cyclo and the 3 in 1 Expansion Pack ..
a) Make sure you have rumble on in the menu.
b) Load up any game. In Game Reset out of the game, return to the main menu.
c) Launch Wordup. Select Enable Saving of the High Score ... (if you don't enable it, it doesn't fail)
d) Enjoy the rumble on the 3 in 1 Expansion go crazy!
This doesn't happen if you boot the DS fresh, and go to WordUp as your FIRST choice. My GUESS is that whatever is causing this COULD be causing other problems with homebrew.

Eek. I was having trouble with this at first, kept getting all these scary error messages. But now I think it worked Thanks Team C, I knew you guys would release another firmware soon, I didnt expect it to be this soon though!
