Default Spirit tracks fix

SAVING SOLUTION FOR CYCLO DS
PLEASE ADD THIS TO THE FIRST POST!

FOR CYCLO DS
newest 1.56 beta 4
read the instructions at http://www.ds-scene.net/?s=viewtopic&nid=8807&p=20
and download the .sav file at http://www.mediafire.com/?yd2jtmymemz

Download the .sav file and make sure the patched game dump and the .sav file have the same name.
place the .sav in the saves folder of your card. (A folder which is new for 1.56 beta 4 and therefore a bit confusing for those used to the older versions... perhaps.) Obviously you then place the rom at the root of your card or in a folder with your other nds games.

PRESTO!

No more fiddling with those real time save issues! This .sav file is 979kb as apposed to the 512kb ones that kept reseting themselves. Just save ingame!
(I'm at long last going to enjoy playing through this game for the third time up til Ocean temple where my rt save froze twize. Happy playing, fellow Cyclo owners!)
You will need to find XPAs cracker to get around the train controls issue, use the fix above for the save and everything should be in working order to play. I am unaware if the save will carry over once cyclo makes it so that you can use the original dump of the rom however, so use at your own risk.

The quote above is credited to the GBAtemp forums, I got it from a different site.

Instead of the quote, heres my intructions.
1. Use the XPA cracker, it should work on selfdumps fine. http://cyclods.wikidot.com/local--fi...-xpa-patch.rar Thanks to leiger for the link
2. Apply the XPA patch via the nfo readme included.
3. download the above .sav file
4.RENAME the .sav to the same name of your rom minus the .nds, and move the .sav onto your cyclos microSD where your save would be. If you have already tried to play there will already be a save sized at 512 kb, this save is a good deal larger. If you have played and there is a .sav for it and it is not overwritten this WILL NOT WORK.
5. Play!

Your downloaded sav has to be renamed to the exact name of your dumped game. Otherwise it won't use it.

Strange, it saves just fine on the SCDS1 with a 512KB save file. Regardless, I can confirm that this works. I was able to hex edit the save from my SCDS1 into that DeSmuME save and continue my game on the CycloDS.

FYI for anyone that cares, that isn't a raw save. It still has the DeSmuME footer at the end. I removed it before I tried the save, but I doubt it made any difference.

Gearhead31: Do you have Windows set to hide filename extensions? That can make it difficult to get the filenames to match sometimes.

I just have three things to say:

1) Thanks for the information.
2) I don't think you're allowed to link to that website here.
3) If you do link to that website, please don't link directly to the file. We need ad money too, you know

The nature of the site is WHY I direct linked. I can reupload to somewhere else if someone gives me a site that will let me do it for free.

And how does not having a direct link get TC money?

And about the saves, I do not know why it would save ok for some people with Cyclos but not others, it did not work for me, even unpatched.

@ destructo
Do you know if the XPA patched saves will be compatible with the unpatched ROM? I plan to switch when TC fixes it, as for now I am using the patched one. No issue with it, but I like to keep all my cart dumps original.

Fair enough. And I was referring to the site you linked to when I said "we".

Hacks and cracks almost never result in invalid saves; they affect what the game does when it's running, not what data it writes when you save.

I was playing the uncracked version on my SCDS1, and that save data works just fine with the cracked version on the CycloDS. I can only assume that it works the other way around as well.

it is saving fine for a lot of people on the 512kb save at first. a lot of people are stating their saves are disappearing. some people are atributing this to the smaller save. the game tries to write a bigger save and the save gets corrupted and then the gave creates a new one. this has happened to people late in the game and when they try to use both save slots.

good luck

I do not know what I'm doing wrong but the xpa-lzst-cracked.nds created has a size of 0.0 KB when i double click the BAT. I've followed the instructions on renaming the nds and dropping it on the BAT but that creates the message Patching..... 'xdelta.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, done Press any key to continue... And does not create a nds file.

Any clues to what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks.
