I got my cyclowiz about two months ago and its been working fine since i installed it. I don't play my Wii very often, but one morning i got up and it wasn't reading backups anymore. I have 3.5 loaded on the cyclowiz and i don't have the Wii hooked up to the internet.
I've opened up the wii and the led is on and all the points seem to be fine. but whenever i re-insert the 3.5 upgrade disc the light starts flashing. again all the points are fine. could the chip just be broken? if so, what can i do with it? can i send it in and get a new one? thanks for the help in advance. -Derek |

Can you try burning on different media using IMGBurn, and at 4x?
It could be the media you are using.. the LED is solid green so it means the chip should be working just fine.. Please post back. |

actuall i am using IMGburn at 4x. and i don't think that's the problem, becuase like i said it WAS working. Just one day it stopped working. Oh and i don't know if this is normal, but whenever i put a disc in while the wii is trying to read it, the led momentarily turns off and then comes back on. and its only when i put in the 3.5 upgrade disc does the led start flashing when it comes back on.
i don't know if this has happened before but is there a possibility that a part of the chip just burned out? Let me know. thanks. -Derek |

The LED is supposed to go off momentarily while reading a disc, then come back on solid. If it doesn't it could mean a wire may have come loose or moved to create a short circuit somewhere - the chip wouldn't turn green at all if it was damaged..

Ok well then if what you're saying is true, then it should be working fine and i should still be able to play backups. But still, the light is green and it says that it was unable to read the disc. is there anything else that i could try?

Only thing I can think of is re-screwing the drive that is held in place with the 4 screws on the rubber pads - I read that if it's screwed in too tight or too loose, you'll end up with issues like this.. could be it came loose or something.. only other thing I can think of right now..
Try unscrewing the screws, then screwing them back in 98% - that is, screw them as tight as you can, then turn them to unscrew them just a little little little bit... |

Ok so i tried that but it still doesn't work. but now after i insert a backup a few times the light starts blinking. there's nothing wrong with the A, B, and C points though. i was having some problems with the S point, however. would that play any role in the blinking led? if not, then what can i do about the "sometimes" blinking led? thanks.

It could be that you were just getting away with using the media you were using. And now your wii has settled a bit or your wii's laser is not quite as fresh as it was and now it has just sunk below that fine line between reading and not reading backups.I recommend verbatim every time.

My Wii + cyclowiz V2 working fine up until this saturday. Then I started to get the "cannot read disk errors". I can see the cyclowiz is solid green, and have tested if I use the reset button to turn it off, it does.
The backups I have made and some provided to me were all working up until Saturday. Then Mario striker was first to go. Then I tried wii academy, it loaded??? but then took it out and tried striker again. No go, put academy back in and now it will not read. I just don't know why the wiz is showing solid green and seems to respond to on/off but no longer reads games. I will try the "losen the screws thing" but any thoughts appreciated. I too burn at 4X and use image burn + Taiyo DVD'd -R |

I do not understand it but....I updated the wiz chip to 3.6 beta - it WORKED - the backups play! - then I upgraded the Wii making sure the wiz was off...oh oh not able to play backups again.
I noticed the wiz was flashing green. So I turned off the wii then pulled the power. Powered back up and all is good! Hope this may help someone else. |
