When the unit is inside the DS, the sticker is completely covered, so it won't hurt aesthetically. They probably do that so they can reuse stickers to speed up manufacturing (and they need all the help they can get with speed).

Hmmm... I'm sort of beginning to think those v3s we were told that we got were actually v2s as my Evo even though it had the green sticker, still had a fairly fat chip sticking out, presumably still the BGA packaging, while my SCDS1 SDHC is quite thin by comparison...
I'll have to see what they send me for a replacement, also hoping to get them to send me a black one as a replacement since I only ordered white to get it soon, which, obviously, failed as far as functionality went. [EDIT] OOC I went and looked up that ASIC's specs, it's actually an FPGA, and here's a page with some info about it... http://www.actel.com/products/pa3/default.aspx [/EDIT] [EDIT2] Also looks like the newest batch uses a cheaper Actel FPGA, as the old one supported 250k gates, while the new one supports 60k. Most of the other specs are similar although the 60 only has 2 I/O banks v. 4 in the 250. They must've not needed more than 60k gates to begin with and the 2 I/O banks... Probably saves a little money/Evolution by using the 060... [/EDIT2] [EDIT3] @alejo Did it look/feel thinner than the v2s when you first picked it up/looked at it? How's the plastic shell? [/EDIT3] [EDIT4] What firmware did the black one/new batch ship with? (My old white one, supposedly batch 3, shipped with 1.2...) Sticker: Well, it's better than the ugly green one that would look like absolute crap with the black shell, IMO... [/EDIT4]

From what I can tell, batch 3 CycloDS Evolutions are using the v2 architecture, and the Black CycloDS Evolutions as well as probably future CycloDS Evolutions will use this newer v3 architecture design..

That almost makes me want my batch 2 CDSE to fail, so I can get one with this better hardware design, lol. Well, My CDSE has been working perfectly ever since I got it, and I guess that's what matters.
