You should be able to right click on the icon and select "Format". Does this not work for you?

Avoid autoplay under windows for recovering : Download TweakUI provided by M$. It is free. Once you have installed the application, launch it and go to MyComputer > Autoplay > Handlers.

you can edit, delete or create strings for the menu and it offers the option to enable/disable the autoplay menu for the CD/DVD drives and for removable drives too.


The other solution is more risky because it means editing the registry. ( ... like HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Microsoft>Windows>Curr entVersion>Explorer>Autopl
ayHandlers>Handlers )

Now you can try a complete low level format or an full erase.

Did you just try just the default format option or a full one ? Try chkdsk /R next time before formating, read the manual and do a full format if your card ( <4 Go ) and microcard reader are compatible ... or try from another computer ( it works better under W2K than XP sometimes ).

My wife has seen strange behavior (verified by me) with Professor Layton.

During one puzzle (looked to be like a jigsaw puzzle or something), the game locked up - music continued playing but the UI and all the buttons were dead. Strangely enough, IGR worked! But even returnnig to the game didn't "unfreeze" it.

Now it's always possible this is a legitimate game bug - they DO happen, even on consoles

I didn't have time to fully flesh this next one out, but it had to do with RTS.

After the above glitch, I powered off the DS. Rebooted to Cyclo menu.

Launched Professor Layton ... (created an RTS file on the boot) then showed her how to save the game via the IGR menu.

After reloading from the RTS (which was done during the pre-main menu opening), I selected to resume a game, selecting her save slot. The game hung (again - like before - music playing happily along) at the OUR STORY SO FAR... screen. Again, I powered down, restartedthe game, did NOT use the RTS, but rather started the save - worked fine. Did the RTS DURING the game, and it seemed to be ok.

I really don't know if there is an issue here - and I haven't had time to flesh it out. I'm more hoping this sparks some conversation with similar experiences.

I've got finally a cursed 2 Go Kingston ( japan ) too with my NDS Lite White No auto boot 8a CycloDS v1.0 EVO firmware v1.3B2 slot 2 : G6 Lite Flash 4Go firmware 4.9e but i don't think it is related to the Beta2 as upgrade process. But perhaps some infos here can help.

First signs appears after yesterday after i tested last DSO browsing it fails with only nasty caracters ( back to previous build the only one with browsing support working with pictures for me ) leaving some nasty cookies in faulty files ( no stamp date ) than some persistants hangs under pocketphysics4 ( yeah me too... ;-) finally some DSmaps-0.2a files were badly written to the card and I immediately run Dosfschk ( read test only mode 1 ) from within the card.

Dosfschk ( DSDlinux build) mentionned the faulty files and ask for achoosen FAT ! Both Fat tables were differing with the second locked to 512 files. the card was clean two days ago and multiples files moved to subdirectories to avoid the infamous 127 limit .

I stopped there since i was thinking my datas need a backup before dying ;-)

I check the card with some old school tools and even after a backup and format i've got the same error :

possible causes: - change in BIOS level or BIOS settings for LBA
- changed disk adapter, firmware or device driver)
- partition-table corruption after a crash or virus
- bad CHS (dummy) values by buggy partitioning tool
- an 'optimized' disk, small devices like USB-sticks

It may be harmless, but when it seems to cause problems,
you can probably fix it by opening the partition and use
the FIXPBR command or the corresponding menu item being:

Not dead but dying ... not sure ... i will try a full erase with another tool but for sure Beta-testing apps, firmware, and homebrew is dangerous s ;-)

By the way avoid like hell hotunplugin in windows ( use %windir%\system32\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll and unlocker if explorer don't release the card after a while but don't unplug forcefully or you will break something ) and take care & clean the contacts of your card as they are the first physical cause of deadly errors. Someone recovers his card just after a light cleaning ;-)

Update : I finally recover the card with some extra-tools but some sectors were capted as bad sectors. After that SDformater refuse a full clean format even with erase ( rejected ) and recalibration ( eaten sectors ) . It was enough ... this tool is really working weird with some extra dlls but at least it was then possible to "real" quick format with a JVC (!) and the card is now back at 100 % in DosFschk ... and running as fast as before with 10% free space ... hope so ;-)

i need the b2 again... i have to save zelda normally but i somehow broke the firmware with ds organize(loading bar appears and nothings happening. i already deleted the cyclods folder on the card). pleeeeeeeeeease?


P.S. ds organize can truly be dangerous: DO NOT COPY 50MB+ FILES xD

thanks man, but it doesnt matter anymore... ds organize managed to brick my microsd card - or maybe it was the crappy cardreader which i got with the cdse. windows says "Failed to format", my digital camera simply crashes while trying to do so and four other computers(1x linux, 1x xp, 1x vista) don't even detect the msd card. HELL YEAH...
maybe i can recover some data with easy recovery. at least the savegames...

good thing that i still have a 1GB card left - or was it 512mb? who cares...
