My first skins! Mario and Zelda
Hope you like these. They're my first attempts at skinning ANYTHING!
Just getting some practice in before I actually get my CycloDS (Apparently you have to PAY rent. I thought it was just a formality.) Mario Download  Zelda Download  Thanks for looking, tell me what you think.

nice looking skins but the text is kinda hard to read between those colours. Overall its nice.

Yeah... I thought that myself after I uploaded the screenshots. I've got a lot more (and better) ideas, but I'm not really talented in the graphics dept.
Although I made the Zelda logo in Xara3D, and the icons in Paint all by myself (copied by eye from screenshots) :P Last edited by jameswalker85; 06-04-2008 at 04:29 AM. Reason: typo

Well the icons from paint are pretty impressive.
But yeah, it would work better if the text was more readable. Did you make these in Paint alone?

For the icons, yeah. I was going to use Photoshop... but it's still mad at me for having over 65,000 fonts installed. I've uninstalled all but the ones that came with Vista and a few I use for my websites... but it still hasn't forgiven me yet.
And I've just noticed that the sun has come up... and I'm meant to be in my physio session in 3½ hours. Whoops. Last edited by jameswalker85; 06-04-2008 at 04:37 AM.

if only there was a way to give the Text of our roms/folders a solid white background surrounding just around the words, like white boxes kinda that move to fill in the area just behind any text and disappears when there is no text
 why does the star icon on the first skin look stretched

It would be nice if you could, but oh well.
I thought that about the star. I copied it in Paint from a screenshot as best I could... but that's how it came out.

The top screens on both look excellent. I agree that the text is difficult to read, which typically is an ender to me.

Well, I'm thinking that I might redo both of these, now that I worked out why Photoshop was being so slow (I've been defragging for around 12 hours now, and it's still not finished).
