To answer the "Do we need this" question: Need, NO. Convenient,YES. Standalone app, I don't think so myself. Part of CEP, Would be a nice addition.

Makes sense. Use one area to download your skins to a certain folder, and use the deployment tool to copy it over

Burn, the mac version was out in a final release while you are still in alpha. Take that, windoze.
